This morning it took place at the Sala Zuccari of Palazzo Caetani in Cisterna di Latina, the press conference presenting the Cisterna Film Festival – International Short Film Festival, which will go in the courtyard of the 1500-historic building on 19th, 20th and 21st August with free entry. The event is in its second edition, with the pontine Cristian Scardigno’s artistic direction and organized by the Cultural Association “Mobilitazioni Artistiche” (Artistic Mobilizations) of Marianna Cozzuto, and this year, they can be proud to declare to be under the patronage of Comune di Cisterna di Latina and Provincia di Latina, and that of Regione Lazio.
Strongly wanted by a group of people in order to give the population a cinema whose lack in the city is deeply felt, during the evenings of Cisterna Film Festival will be screened 21 competition titles, chosen among 4200 of them come from 124 countries around the world. “A really tough selection, which has cut out several short films of great value. The quality is growing edition after edition, and this year we can boast of works that have received nominations and awards in some of the most important festivals and international kermesse, as the Oscars, the Sundance Film Festival, the Cannes Film Festival, the David di Donatello, the Nastro d’Argento Award”.
They are six the short films in the reconfirmed Videoarte section, which will have their place in one of the exhibition spaces of Palazzo Caetani sided by the photo exhibition by Paola Acciarino; and other six in the newest section Next Generation, dedicated to an under 18 young audience, selected among students of the Istituto Comprensivo “Alfonso Volpi”, Istituto Comprensivo “Plinio il Vecchio” and Istituto Comprensivo “Leone Caetani” in Cisterna di Latina. “The desire to create a section dedicated to a younger audience was dictated by the will to give an opportunity to the youths, who can find difficult to move from the city. An occasion not only for fun, but also for training, because cinema, like any other art, is highly educational. For this reason, they were selected films that tackle with adolescence and childhood issues, and the audience will have the opportunity to see them, to discuss about them and finally decide the winner, as a real jury.” On the same ground it arises the workshop “Introduction to the movies” (obligatory RESERVATION) held by Cristian Scardigno on 18th August for guys from 11 to 18 years old, where it will be shown each step of making a film not only in theoretical terms but also practical, shooting and assembling some scenes with the participants.
During the conference, they announced the experts’ jury called to decree the winner: the director Lorenzo Berghella, the reviewer Emanuele Rauco, the actor Michael Degirolamo and the Latin Film Commission President Rino Piccolo. Furthermore, just like last year, the public will give a prize to the most voted by viewers during the three evenings short.
A cultural event in growth and a source of pride even for the mayor Eleonora Della Penna, who spoke enthusiastically at the conference alongside the festival’s staff: “A treat for soul and spirit. Thank you so much. They will surely be three wonderful evenings: the Cisterna Film Festival is taking off, becoming known and appreciated by a wider audience and embracing more and more institutions, from the Comune di Cisterna di Latina to the Regione Lazio this year.”
