The second edition of Cisterna Film Festival – International Short Film Festival ended Sunday, August 21 after three special evenings of projection. This year to be awarded by the jury of technicians and experts in the film world was “My Enemy, my brother” by Ann Shin. It is a true story docu-film about two enemy soldiers during the war between Iran and Iraq who met after years in Canada and found that their relationship can become as narrow as brotherly love, and go beyond the divisions that governments impose on the people: a timeless theme. The jurors Emanuele Rauco, Lorenzo Berghella, Michele Degirolamo and Rino Piccolo congratulated for the excellent quality of the films in competition. These are the reasons for their choice: “For the courage and the uniqueness of the story, for the ability to use more languages that allow to touch several emotional layers, for the formal elegance and simplicity in telling complex characters who are able to bring to light their humanity going beyond any kind of ideological conditioning, despite the extreme situation.”

A story that has deeply touched the spectators, who decided to assign it the Audience Award. Two prizes then for “My enemy, my brother”, followed in the preferences of the audience by “La nuit, tous les chats sont roses” by Guillame Renusson and the Academy Award nominee “We can not live without cosmos” by the Russian Konstantin Bronzit, the sole animated film this year. Preferences have been dictated by a growing participation of the public, which reached a peak of spectators during the final evening, and in total has exceeded 600 spectators: an increase, compared to last year, which shows that the Cisterna Film Festival is a growing phenomenon. Appreciation also confirmed by the numerous individuals who have decided to invest in the event.

Two other prizes awarded during the evening. The first was in the Next Generation section, reserved to a young audience who voted for the Dutch short “All there is” by Jeroen Mourmans, and the one decided by MOBilitazioni Artistiche. Three special mentions: the direction by Kamal Parnach in the Iranian film “Hasti”, the short “Bellissima” by Alessandro Capitani and the cinematography of “Lost Village”, by Gorka Gomez Andreu.
