The press conference opening the Cisterna Film Festival took place this morning at the Sala Zuccari of Palazzo Caetani. The international short film festival, which came to its third edition, will be held on 21, 22 and 23 July from 21.30. The festival will debut for the first time in July with an Opening Night set for the 20th of the month, during which two short films will be screened, out of competition, and they will present all the guests and read out the full program of the evenings.
The Opening Night is not the only news of #Cff3: innovations also in the sections involved, the organizers Cristian Scardigno and Marianna Cozzuto perfectly showed them during the meeting attended by the Mayor and President of Province Eleonora Della Penna. There will be as ever the competition section, which includes several Italian premieres, and that will be judged both by the public (Acqua e Sapone Audience Award) and by the jury (with a prize in cash). Then, there will be the non-competitive section presented last years with the label “Videoarte”, now renamed “Other Visions”, to underline its wider investigation in different areas. The films will be screened into the courtyard of Palazzo Caetani, set of a photographic exhibition of two local artists, Alessandro Comandini from Cisterna di Latina and Sofia Bucci from Giulianello. The space will open during the days of the festival from 18.00 to 21.00, and previewed on July 20 during the Opening Night.
Confirmed the “next generation” category, which again will involve young students of our territory (Sunday, July 23 at 19.00 in Sala Merolla), as well as the free film workshop for people aged between 14 and 18, scheduled on Friday 21 July at 17.00. The leader of the meeting will be Sebastiano Rizzo, the Italian director who has transformed the cinematic art into an instrument of civic hope. The biggest novelty of this edition is the new non-competitive section named “Focus on”. It stims from the desire to deeply understand other culturally and geographically distant realities, so that we can know these countries through their eyes and those of their cinematography. The choice of this year is Poland, a state with a fruitful film production. The screenings of selected short films will take place on July 21 and 23 from 19:00 to 21:00 in the rooms of the Municipal Library. One of the protagonists of the conference was, Lorenzo Costantino, head of the Polish Polytechnic Institute in Rome, who collaborated on the selection of short films in this category, realized also thank to the O! PLA – Polish animation film festival.
This year we will have extraordinarily distinguished guests: the actor Ninni Bruschetta, who on Saturday 22 at 19.00, will present his latest book Manuale di sopravvivenza dell’attore non protagonista, Fazi Editore, 2016; the director Gianfranco Pannone, who will talk about his Lascia stare i santi; the director Renato Chiocca, the actress Elda Alvigini and the journalists Catello Masullo and Rossella Pozza.
This year again the festival has received the support of a growing number of local and national sponsors, and the patronage of Regione Lazio, Provincia di Latina, Comune di Cisterna di Latina, Proloco Cisterna and Latina Film Commission.
“I congratulate the organizers of Cisterna Film Festival because they have created an event accessible to everyone: generally when they speak about independent cinema, they think about something niche, instead these guys were able, in the past editions, to involve so many people in different social and cultural circles, ” – said the Mayor -” I am very happy to see how the organizers, despite all the difficulties, every year, have the toughness to go on with this festival: when choosing a so complicated and uphill climb, the only strength someone has is to stay constant and continue investing in his capabilities. “
