Three years of success, great guests and films from all over the world: the Cisterna Film Festival – International Short Film Festival does not stop, and returns with its fourth edition. Again organized by the cultural association MOBilitazioni Artistiche and artistic director Cristian Scardigno. This year the contest notice has been opened in advance, precisely from December 24 to March 18, 2018, and it is intended to filmmakers, societies, cultural associations, schools and video artists, with the aim of enhancing and promoting cinematographic art in the form of short films.

The organization staff had a huge success in the third edition and they are ready to start exactly from that point: a series of high profile events have been the chorus of the long-awaited evening screenings, attended by names of national fame and professionals, as guests and jurors. Examples are the actors and directors Elda Alvigini and Ninni Bruschetta, as well as the directors Sebastiano Rizzo and Renato Chiocca and the critics Catello Masullo and Rossella Pozza: they also helped to attract a large audience inside the court of Palazzo Caetani, with about 300 viewers per evening. Great satisfaction then for the winning movie “The silence” by Ali Asgari and Farnoosh Samadi. Asgari, after coming to Cisterna to pick up the Jury Prize, participated with his first film at festivals of a great importance, such as the Venice Film Festival and the TIFF (Toronto Film Festival).

This year all the categories have been reconfirmed: the official COMPETITION is still the most important, accompanied by the non-competitive OTHER VISIONS, with video art and experimental shorts, and the competitive NEXT GENERATION, which this year will change its clothes, moving directly into the schools during the last weeks of lessons. In fact, appointments will be organized with the support of schools to encourage a greater number of young people to take part in the event during which screenings, debates and votes of the favourite short will take place. Furthermore, the FOCUS ON section is back, as always out of the competition section and intended for short films from a specific country chosen by the artistic director in agreement with embassies and/or cultural institutes. Poland was the one that inaugurated this category last year, thanks to a partnership with the Institute of Polish Culture, with a selection of Polish shorts of the highest quality.

The works, which will be chosen by the artistic direction and management sector composed by Cristian Scardigno, Marianna Cozzuto and Eleonora Materazzo, will be screened in the different spaces of the historic Palazzo Caetani in Cisterna di Latina in July.
